Orders close today for your take and bake lasagna. Granger Women’s Club is offering meat and vegetarian lasagna ($12–$20), with proceeds supporting local community programs, literacy, and WG schools. Pickup is Friday, May 8, 3–6 PM at the Granger Community Center.

Did you know the inspiration behind Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day products is Granger mom—Thelma Meyer? She’ll be at Vintage Road Coffee Co. on May 17 with her daughter, Monica Nassif, who wrote I Bottled My Mother, about how the brand got started.

• 🖤💛 Iowa Hawkeyes Team Up With Granger
Granger and students from the University of Iowa’s Initiative for Sustainable Communities (IISC) have been working together this semester to develop a potential plan for the city’s public safety building. They found some helpful insights along the way.
While the city may not move forward with this specific project, they’re exploring other opportunities to partner on programs that could benefit Granger’s future. Want to hear what they came up with? They’re presenting on Friday, May 8 at 11:30 AM.
• 🏷️ Future Boss Kids Market
Woodward-Granger kids have great entrepreneurial spirit—we’ve all seen them selling lemonade, bracelets, cookies, and more. If you have one of these kids, consider signing them up for the first-ever Future Boss Kids Market.
The event isn’t until June (during Woodward Friends & Neighbors Day), but sign-up is happening now—and spots are limited.
📰 Top Local Stories
• A Better Look for Broadway Street Ahead
Remember the kids’ song “one of these things is not like the other”? That’s kind of the feel on Broadway St. right now. While there’s been a clear effort to update and beautify the main street, one property still stands out as lagging behind.
This hasn’t gone unnoticed by city officials—the property has been deemed non-compliant, in part because it’s being used as long-term storage rather than its intended use. It’s now going through the proper channels with the city attorney.
Built in 1900, the retail space is part of Broadway Street’s original town footprint–dating back to Granger’s earliest days.

Art that’s meaningful + local+ one-of-a-kind.
If you’ve ever wanted a meaningful piece of artwork for your home (or a really special gift), Maddie Maddock of Granger creates custom pieces like pet portraits, house portraits, birth flower bouquets, and portraits of people.
Along with custom artwork, she offers live painting at weddings and events—either a large canvas for the couple or small watercolor portraits for guests (honestly, wish she was around 20 years ago for mine!).
With 16 years as an art educator she’s worked across a wide range of mediums, though her love for art started young—watching her mom paint late at night and sneaking in to try it herself. Her family—husband and two daughters—has lived in Granger for over eight years and loves being part of the community.
She’s open to custom requests and has limited availability left this summer for weddings—reach out here:

• Have a valid driver’s license and a little extra time? Volunteer drivers are needed to help provide rides for appointments, groceries, and errands—keeping local residents independent. Call 515-978-8114 or visit their website for more info.
• Afternoon part-time job opportunity available at Janning Family Chiropractic in Granger. Hours are Monday–Thursday from 2–6 p.m., with possible Friday hours as well. Send your resume and a brief bio to [email protected].
• The community refrigerator at the Granger Public Library–is accepting donations. Items like milk, eggs, fruits and vegetables are always a great fit.
